Treasure hunt Thursday April 8, 2010
Location: Lancaster High School; Lancaster CA

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 8, it was announced by our intern director and youth pastor, Ryan Latham, that we would be engaging in a treasure hunt at Lancaster high school. When we engaged in our quiet time, God revealed to me three things which at first seemed bizzare, but they were so bizzare that I knew God was up to something.

He first revealed to me a brown bible being carried by a student. He then showed me what seemed to be a Christmas tree without decorations. The final clue on my treasure, which were quite a few eagles in motion, made a bit more sense seeing as how Lancaster high’s mascot is an eagles. I figured it would be on the shirt of the student that I would encounter.

As we made our way to the school, Marcellus and I encountered many people that He knew, but no one with the clues that we were looking for. We avidly searched for the person God had waiting for us, but they were nowhere to be found on the campus. We went to the auditorium because we heard there was a talent show tryout and we met up with Fabian (one of our HB students). I had a feeling about the library and asked him where it was and we were on our way. As we headed there, I thought if we don’t find this person in here, then we will never find them. As we walked, my eyes were drawn to a student similar to the way a monkeys eyes are drawn to a banana!!! We saw that she was reading a BLACK bible. “I’ll take whatever I can get!,” I thought at this point. I introduced Marcellus and myself and she introduced herself. ” what’s your name?”, I asked. ” sequoia “, she replied. I didn’t realize at first what I was hearing. I thought it was another name. I then shared with her that I Believed with all of my heart that God had led us to her and asked her if she could use prayer for anything. She shared her requests with us and we offered to pray for her outside of the library. I was curious and asked her if she had another bible by any chance. She then pulled out a binder that had a brown bible stapled to a transparent tab divider. We were astonished with amazement. God had very well with intent, led us to His child to with the purpose to pray for her. She then said that she didn’t often see men like us on campus. I asked her what she meant by that exactly. She then asked us if we were angels!!!! With a huge smile on my face, I replied “no”. As I left the library to step outside and pray for sequoia, I noticed a shrine of t shirts and posters with all kind of eagles. I was very much bewildered in awe at the specificity in which how God speaks. All three of the clues on my map were dead on. It’s amazing what The Father will do when we have complete confidence in his word and cease to abridge it in fear and doubt. So if you ever think that God doesn’t speak anymore, stop thinking and start listening!!!!!!! We then prayed for sequoia and left with smiles on our faces at the wonder that God had done that day.

Here is a picture of a sequoia tree, (the Christmas tree without ornaments)

There is footage to verify that these accounts are true :)
